What Hong Kong founders say about Sleek

“They have a team of bilingual professionals who are always ready to help, and to guide me every step along the way. I now have my team of company secretary, CPA and registered offices all provided by Sleek. I will be setting up subsidiaries with Sleek and I recommend them 10 out of 10.”
Angela Hailey Yeung
“If you are a small business owner, or any business owner based in Hong Kong, needing an auditor, filing taxes, having a business address, annual secretary filing, and want a very streamlined process at fair price points, I highly recommend Sleek.”
Jay Ahn | Teach for Hong Kong Limited
“The mail room facility is fabulous as well as SleekSign, which I have now adopted for all my firm’s digital signing. The ability to incorporate further companies for myself and for clients and to manage them all as admin on one dashboard is also a very attractive proposition and it’s all at such a good value price point.”
Christian Brown

Why every Hong Kong company needs a registered office address

From the day of incorporation, every Hong Kong company must maintain a local registered office address, and that address appears on the public Companies Registry record.

A compliant Hong Kong registered office address must:

  • Be a physical address in Hong Kong, not a P.O. box
  • Be accessible during normal business hours for delivery and acknowledgement of official documents
  • Serve as the official channel for all government correspondence from the Companies Registry, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD), and other authorities
  • Be kept up to date with the Companies Registry within 15 days of any change, via Form NR1

Sleek handles all of this for you, including the NR1 filing.

Should you use your home address or a registered office service?

Using your home address as your company’s registered office is legal in Hong Kong, but it puts that address on the public record and makes future changes more admin-heavy.
Consideration Sleek registered office (HK$2,000/year) Your home address
Privacy Sleek’s Central address appears on the public record, while your home address stays private Your residential address appears on the public Companies Registry record
Professional image A Central Hong Kong address gives your company a more professional public-facing address A residential address can make your company look less established to clients, banks and regulators
Mail handling Every letter is scanned and uploaded within 7 working days, so you can check it from anywhere Statutory mail arrives with your personal post and is easier to miss when travelling or moving
If you move You can move freely while keeping the same registered office on record Any change must be filed with the Companies Registry within 15 days using Form NR1
Cost HK$2,000 a year, with predictable pricing and no per-letter charges Free upfront, but you pay in privacy and admin
Best for Founders who want privacy, convenience, and a more professional address Founders who don’t mind making their home address public

Where Sleek’s registered address sits

FAQs about registered office address in Hong Kong

What is a registered office address in Hong Kong?

A registered office address is the official, legal address of a limited company incorporated in Hong Kong. It’s the address recorded with the Hong Kong Companies Registry and used by government bodies such as the Inland Revenue Department to send official notices, legal documents, and statutory correspondence.

Is a registered office address mandatory in Hong Kong?

Yes — 100% mandatory. Under the Hong Kong Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622), every limited company must have a physical registered office address in Hong Kong from the date of its incorporation. This address must be kept up to date with the Companies Registry.

Can I use my residential address as my registered office?

Yes, if it is a physical Hong Kong address. But your residential address will appear on the public Companies Registry record. That trade-off is why most founders choose a registered office service instead.

How long does activation take?

Activation is online and takes minutes after payment. Sleek then files Form NR1 with the Companies Registry to update your registered office on the public record. The Registry typically processes this within 1–2 working days.

What’s the difference between a registered address and a business address?

A registered address is the official legal address required by law for statutory mail from the government. A business address is what you use for day-to-day commercial operations — client communications, vendor invoices, marketing materials. They can be the same address, but they don’t have to be.

How does mail handling work?

Mail arriving at your Sleek registered office is opened with your permission, scanned, tagged, and uploaded to your dashboard within 7 working days. You receive an email notification when new mail arrives. From the dashboard, you can view, download, request forwarding of the physical copy, or archive any document.

What kinds of mail does Sleek handle?

Sleek’s Hong Kong registered address handles all official business correspondence: letters from the Companies Registry, IRD tax notices, MPF correspondence, bank statements and physical bank cards, legal notices, court documents, and audit confirmations. Every item is scanned within 7 business days and uploaded to your Sleek dashboard, so you can read it from anywhere. Physical items like bank cards can be collected from our Central office or couriered to you at cost. We do not handle parcels, marketing mail, flyers, or unaddressed promotional material — these are filtered out so your inbox stays focused on what matters.

Can I use this address to open a business bank account?

Yes. Banks in Hong Kong require a valid local registered office address as part of their KYC and due diligence process when you apply to open a corporate bank account. Sleek’s Central Hong Kong address is recognised by all major Hong Kong banks and used by thousands of customer companies for their bank applications.

What happens if I move out of Hong Kong or change my own address?

Nothing changes on the public record. Sleek registered office stays the same, and your dashboard moves with you. The Companies Registry filing is for your registered office, not your personal address. This is one of the strongest practical reasons founders who travel or relocate use a registered office service.

Can I cancel or transfer the address mid-year?

Yes. You can cancel your registered office service or transfer to another provider at any time with 30 days’ written notice. However, the registered office fee is paid annually in advance and is non-refundable for the current year if you switch providers, dissolve your company, or change your business plans. The only exception is if Sleek fails to provide the service as agreed. In that case, we will process your refund within 15 business days in line with our Terms and Conditions

If you change your registered office address, Form NR1 must be filed with the Companies Registry within 15 days. Sleek can prepare and file this for you as part of the offboarding process, and we will coordinate the handover with your new provider where possible. After termination, you will still have 12 months to export your company records from your Sleek dashboard. For anything specific to your situation, please contact your Sleek advisor.

Is the registered office linked to my audit and ongoing compliance?

Yes. Your registered office is where statutory notices land, including those related to your annual audit, profits tax return, and annual return (NAR1). Missing a notice can mean missing a deadline, which is why most founders bundle the registered office with accounting and audit services.

Is this included in Sleek’s incorporation plans?

For foreign founders, yes. A Central Hong Kong registered office and digital mailroom are included in every Sleek incorporation plan at no extra charge. For local founders, the registered office is an optional HKD 2,000/year add-on during incorporation, or you can use your own Hong Kong address. This standalone product is for founders who are not incorporating through Sleek.
