What foreign founders say about Sleek

“Sleek offers me the easiest company set up I have ever done. I have now created multiple companies in three different countries and this was by far the best experience. Especially Zoe helped me a lot with my questions during the process with super fast responses via WhatsApp or spontaneous calls. I would give 10 stars if possible.”
Finn Stolle | LF Digital Solutions Limited
“Even if you’re tight on cash, I’d still recommend using Sleek. The service fee on top of the government registration fees is minimal, and Sleek’s platform is simple and easy to follow. The incorporation team will guide you through the process. While incorporating in HK isn’t too difficult if you’re physically present, incorporating the new company through Sleek was a breeze — 2 directors both international.”
Daniel Rozsa
“Great, easy to work with, amazing experience. We are not from Hong Kong so the help Sleek provided for us was stellar. Incorporating in HK was so amazingly simple with them — I was shocked. Highly recommend!”
Daniel De Leon | Garuda Gear Limited

Start your Hong Kong company from anywhere in the world

You don’t need to live in Hong Kong, hold a Hong Kong visa, or appoint a local partner to incorporate. Hong Kong allows 100% foreign ownership of private limited companies, and directors and shareholders can be based anywhere.

What Sleek provides for you:

  • Hong Kong registered office address: Required by law and included in your incorporation package
  • Statutory company secretary: Sleek acts as your company secretary from day one under TCSP licence TC006483
  • Remote incorporation support: Document preparation, digital signing, and filing handled online
  • KYC compliance for founders from any nationality: We’ve incorporated companies for entrepreneurs based in 80+ countries

What you provide:

  • Passport copy for each director and shareholder
  • Recent address proof dated within the last three months
  • Basic company details, including proposed company name, business activity, and shareholding structure

Why Hong Kong over Singapore / Delaware / UAE

100% foreign ownership

No nominee director required (unlike Singapore). Be sole director and sole shareholder from any country.

Territorial tax, potentially 0%

Profits earned outside HK may qualify for offshore tax exemption. No VAT, no GST, no capital gains tax.

English common law + global respect

Familiar legal system for UK/AU/CA/IN founders. Not a "classic offshore" jurisdiction — strong international standing.

Three ways to incorporate a Hong Kong company from overseas

Foreign founders usually compare three incorporation routes: a Hong Kong-based provider like Sleek, a traditional Big 4 or corporate services firm, or an international remote-incorporation specialist. Here’s how they differ.
Feature Sleek Big 4 / traditional firms (KPMG, PwC, Deloitte, Tricor, Vistra) International remote-incorporation specialists
Cost HK$6,973 Starter, government fees included HK$15,000–30,000+, government fees usually billed separately HK$5,500–10,500, depending on whether a registered office is included
Travel required None; documents signed remotely via SleekSign Often expects in-person meetings with your partner or manager None
Time to incorporation 3–5 business days to file once KYC clears 2–4 weeks, depending on partner availability and internal review 1–3 weeks, depending on provider and KYC
Hong Kong presence Yes — Central HK office, TCSP licence TC006483, HK-resident company secretary, HK-based accountants Yes — large HK offices, but usually built for enterprise clients and listed companies Varies; most operate from Singapore, Dubai, or fully remote
Built for foreign founders Yes — most clients are non-resident; remote KYC, digital signing, HKD-priced packages No — designed primarily for institutional clients, MNCs, and listed companies Yes — but usually without local HK accountants or audit partners
Banking support Airwallex or Aspire introduction included, subject to approval Traditional bank introductions (HSBC, Hang Seng, etc.); typically in-person bank meetings required Varies; some include banking partners, others leave it to you
HK tax knowledge Yes — HK-based accountants for local accounting and Profits Tax support Yes — deep HK tax expertise, but priced for large enterprises Variable — most have generalist tax knowledge, not HK-specific
Ongoing compliance Year-one statutory registers, Annual Return, and SCR maintenance Bespoke; typically billed hourly or per filing at partner rates Often charged separately per filing
Audit and tax filing support Available in Compliance and Full Compliance tiers Yes — full-scope audit, but priced for larger entities Usually outsourced or referred to a partner firm
If something goes wrong Direct line to your Sleek HK advisor during HK business hours Through your assigned partner or relationship manager Email-based support, often across multiple time zones
Big 4 and traditional corporate services firms make sense for large enterprises, listed companies, or complex restructurings. Their senior-partner model and depth of expertise justify the cost at that scale. International remote-incorporation specialists may suit founders optimising for the lowest upfront price with simple compliance needs after incorporation.

Sleek is a better fit if you want a Hong Kong-based provider, no travel, banking introductions, and the option to keep company secretary, accounting, audit, and tax support with one HK team at a fraction of the Big 4 cost.

Register your Hong Kong Company as a foreigner in four steps

From plan selection to incorporation, our team handles every step so you can focus on building your business. No travel, no paper forms, no unnecessary admin.

Step 01

Choose your plan
Pick the incorporation package that fits your business — Starter, Compliance, or Full Compliance. Not sure which fits? Book a free discovery call and we’ll recommend one based on your business activity, expected revenue, and tax exemption eligibility.
Step 02
Share your details
Upload your passport, recent address proof, and basic company details — directors, shareholders, share capital, and your preferred company name. We’ll run the Cyber Search Centre name check at the same time, so you don’t need a separately reserved name to start.
Step 03
We run KYC and file with the authorities
Our compliance team reviews your documents, then files your incorporation with the Companies Registry and your Business Registration with the IRD under the one-stop service.
Step 04
Receive your documents and banking introduction
Your Certificate of Incorporation and Business Registration Certificate arrive in your Sleek dashboard, typically within 3–5 business days. We then introduce you to Airwallex or Aspire for multi-currency banking — accounts are usually activated within 48 hours.

Check if your company name is available

*Subject to final approval by the Companies Registry. Company names must end in “Limited” or “有限公司”.

How foreign founders set up a Hong Kong company with Sleek

Pick your business structure

Most foreign founders incorporate as a Hong Kong Private Company Limited by Shares (Ltd). It allows 100% foreign ownership, no local director requirement, and limited liability. Sleek’s team confirms the right structure for your situation.

Choose and reserve your company name

Your company name must end in "Limited" or "有限公司" and cannot match an existing registered name. Sleek runs the Cyber Search Centre check and reserves your name as part of incorporation.

Appoint your directors and shareholders

Hong Kong requires at least one director (natural person, any nationality, any residency) and at least one shareholder. As a foreign founder, you can be sole director and sole shareholder. You provide passport copies and recent address proof for each director and shareholder.

Sleek files with the Companies Registry & IRD

Sleek submits your incorporation application to the Companies Registry and the Business Registration application to the IRD under the one-stop service. Both your Certificate of Incorporation and Business Registration Certificate arrive together in your Sleek dashboard within 10–15 business days.

Claim offshore tax exemption (where eligible)

If your company has no HK customers, suppliers, or operations in Hong Kong, you may qualify for offshore profits tax exemption — potentially 0% corporate tax. Sleek's HK accountants assess eligibility and prepare the IRD claim. Available in the Full Compliance tier.

Sleek serves as your company secretary

'Every Hong Kong company needs a physical registered office in Hong Kong and a HK-resident company secretary from day one. As a foreign founder, both must be locally based — Sleek provides a Central HK address with mail handling and digital scanning, and serves as your statutory company secretary under TCSP licence TC006483. Both are included in every incorporation package.'

Keep accounting on the same platform

Once your Hong Kong company is set up with Sleek, your books, payroll, and tax filing live in the same dashboard as your statutory documents. No data migration, no separate provider, no juggling logins.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a resident of Hong Kong to register a company?

No. You do not need to be a resident, visa holder, or visitor to Hong Kong to incorporate a company. Directors and shareholders can be of any nationality and reside anywhere in the world.

Are there any restrictions on the nationality of directors or shareholders?

No. Hong Kong allows 100% foreign ownership of private limited companies. There are no restrictions on the nationality of directors or shareholders, and no requirement for a local director or partner. A foreign founder can be sole director and sole shareholder.

Do I need to travel to Hong Kong to incorporate my company?

No. The entire incorporation process can be completed 100% remotely. With Sleek, you sign documents via SleekSign from anywhere in the world, and we file with the Companies Registry and the IRD on your behalf. Most foreign clients incorporate without ever visiting Hong Kong.

What are the minimum requirements for a foreigner to register a Hong Kong company?

To register a Private Company Limited by Shares (the most common structure), you need at least 1 director who is a natural person (any nationality, any residency), at least 1 shareholder (can be the same person as the director), a Hong Kong-resident company secretary or a HK-registered TCSP, a Hong Kong registered office address (no PO Boxes), and at least 1 share at any nominal value (no minimum share capital required).

Why must the Company Secretary be a Hong Kong resident?

The Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) requires every HK private limited company to appoint a company secretary who is a Hong Kong resident or a Hong Kong-registered Trust or Company Service Provider (TCSP). The Company Secretary is the company’s statutory officer responsible for compliance with HK regulations. As a foreign founder, you appoint a HK-registered TCSP to fulfil this role. Sleek serves as your statutory company secretary under TCSP licence TC006483.

Can a foreigner open a Hong Kong corporate bank account?

Yes, but it has become more challenging due to international anti-money laundering regulations. Traditional HK banks typically require an in-person visit and extensive documentation — often taking 6–10 weeks for non-resident director companies. Sleek’s banking partners Airwallex and Aspire accept foreign-director companies remotely, typically activating accounts within 48 hours after incorporation. Most foreign founders open a digital bank account first to start trading, then apply for a traditional bank in parallel.

Can I qualify for 0% corporate tax in Hong Kong?

Possibly. Hong Kong operates a territorial tax system: profits earned outside Hong Kong may be exempt from Profits Tax under the offshore tax exemption regime. To qualify, your company generally must have no HK customers or suppliers, no HK-based operations or staff, and no HK-sourced revenue. Sleek’s HK accountants assess eligibility and prepare the IRD claim for clients on the Compliance and Full Compliance tiers. The standard HK Profits Tax rate is 8.25% on the first HK$2M and 16.5% above that — but for many non-resident founders with no HK presence, the effective rate is 0%.

What documents do I need to provide as a foreigner?

For each non-resident director and shareholder, you provide a clear scanned copy of your passport and a proof of overseas residential address dated within the last 3 months (utility bill, bank statement, or government correspondence). Sleek’s compliance team runs KYC on the documents and prepares the incorporation forms. No notarisation required.

How long does incorporation take for foreign founders?

Sleek typically incorporates Hong Kong companies for foreign founders within 3–5 business days from the day we receive your complete KYC documents. The 5-day difference vs local founders is the additional KYC review for non-resident directors and shareholders. Banking adds 1–4 weeks on top — Airwallex and Aspire typically activate accounts within 48 hours.

Can I cancel mid-year if it doesn’t work out?

Yes. You can cancel with 30 days’ written notice. The annual fee is paid upfront and non-refundable for the unused portion of the year, except where Sleek has materially failed to deliver — in which case a pro-rata refund applies under our Terms and Conditions. After cancellation, you have 12 months to export your records from the Sleek dashboard.

Are there nationalities or passports you cannot accept?

Sleek accepts founders from any nationality and runs standard KYC and AML compliance checks on every applicant. We’ve successfully incorporated companies for founders from 80+ countries. In rare cases — for example, sanctioned individuals or entities, or business activities flagged by HK regulators — we may decline or request additional documentation. If your situation is complex, we recommend booking a discovery call to discuss before applying.
