Sleek is celebrating its 5th year anniversary. When we first started Sleek in 2017, we were two entrepreneurs, frustrated with the landscape for new business startups.

We began as a small start-up with a team of 2, using a small meeting room, courtesy of one of our investors. Fast-forward to today and Sleek has undergone a massive transformation. We’ve grown to over 340 employees and expanded into 4 markets – Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, and the United Kingdom. We’ve helped more than 450,000 businesses get started successfully with our accounting and compliance services that have allowed them to focus on what matters most: growing their business.

Through these changes, our core mission remains unchanged – to help make the lives of entrepreneurs easier. In this spirit, we’d like to reflect on some valuable lessons we’ve learned along the way that helped shape Sleek into what it is today.

We knew we were onto solving a real problem when we had potential sales coming in even before onboarding our first client. Building a minimum viable product quickly, and confronting it to prospects got us learning a lot about our market.

Thanks to this early traction, we managed to gather a stellar team of prominent angel investors willing to support us in our journey. This taught us the importance of trust and reputation, which will follow you everywhere.

While we all strive to be the best, it’s just as important to acknowledge when you slip up. Humility is an asset in this business and we recognize when we do not deliver well. Respect your clients by being honest with yourself when mistakes happen. For any business in any industry, being humble and true to yourself will be the key ingredients to your success.

Finally, never settle on the quality of your team. It is not necessarily a matter of a good or bad individual, but rather the wrong person in the wrong place at the wrong time that creates issues. As a founder, you need to work relentlessly until you achieve that magic alignment of having a great team, and the right momentum.

While this milestone marks a celebration of our growth, it’s also a time to thank those that came onboard along the way.

Firstly, our clients for their continuous trust in our services, helping us build a great impact on SMEs. Secondly, our amazing Sleek team for working around the clock to build our vision. Last but not least, our investors and partners, for their ongoing support in this journey. We wish to thank all of you, and couldn’t have done it without every single one of you.

We’re prouder than ever of this first part of our journey, and even more excited as we look towards the future with all the things we’ve got prepared! Here’s to more value and success for Entrepreneurs!
