As the CEO and Founder, Nadine Richardson is dedicated to transforming how couples navigate pregnancy, labor, and early parenthood. In this interview, we get into Nadine’s journey to launching a business that now helps parents across Australia.
Could you tell us a bit about your business?
Nadine: We offer childbirth education for mums to be and their partners that is holistic and evidence based, both online and face to face.
She Births is the world’s first scientifically verified antenatal program. We continue to improve and form the basis of many other research programs ongoing.
What was your inspiration to take the leap and start She Births?
Nadine: After working as a doula at the coal face of birth I knew there was a desperate need for high quality information to empower families so they could feel confident during birth and while navigating the hospital system.
I had also discovered many practical tools that worked for pain relief that people both needed and wanted!
Can you share anything you wish you knew before starting She Births?
Nadine: Launching She Births has been quite a ride, filled with lessons. I wish I’d known sooner how the business world keeps changing. I’ve also learnt that leadership isn’t an overnight skill but a journey. On the legal side of things, I’ve learnt that dealing with intellectual property issues in our industry needs serious thoughts and can’t be ignored. All of these lessons have shaped She Births.
What advice would you give to other business owners about managing their bookkeeping/tax/financial admin?
Nadine: Stay on top of your own books and ask lots of questions. It’s essential to be hands-on with your financials and maintain a proactive approach. Regularly reviewing and understanding your books empowers you with valuable insights. Don’t hesitate to ask questions, seek guidance, and stay informed. A clear understanding of your financial landscape is fundamental to making informed business decisions and ensuring the financial health of your venture.
